Robust design of microbial strains

چکیده
MOTIVATION Metabolic engineering algorithms provide means to optimize a biological process leading to the improvement of a biotechnological interesting molecule. Therefore, it is important to understand how to act in a metabolic pathway in order to have the best results in terms of productions. In this work, we present a computational framework that searches for optimal and robust microbial strains that are able to produce target molecules. Our framework performs three tasks: it evaluates the parameter sensitivity of the microbial model, searches for the optimal genetic or fluxes design and finally calculates the robustness of the microbial strains. We are capable to combine the exploration of species, reactions, pathways and knockout parameter spaces with the Pareto-optimality principle. RESULTS Our framework provides also theoretical and practical guidelines for design automation. The statistical cross comparison of our new optimization procedures, performed with respect to currently widely used algorithms for bacteria (e.g. Escherichia coli) over different multiple functions, reveals good performances over a variety of biotechnological products. Potassium is the most abundant nutrition element in the surface soil but most of the potassium is unavailable to the plants. The present study was conducted with the aim of isolation of potassium solubilizing bacteria from rhizosphere soil and evaluation of quantitative ability of released potassium from different sources of silicate by strains. For this propose, laboratory and greenhouse evalu...
متن کاملBacterial responses to environmental herbicide pollutants (glyphosate and paraquat)
The toxic effect of herbicides on non- target microorganisms may influence degradation of organic matter resulting in changes to nutrient cycling. In the present study, different strains of bacteria incubated in media containing different concentrations of glyphosate and paraquat were assessed over a period of two incubation terms. The deleterious impact of the herbicide was observed as glyphos...
متن کاملA Robust Control Design Technique for Discrete-Time Systems
A robust state feedback design subject to placement of the closed loop eigenvalues in a prescribed region of unit circle is presented. Quantitative measures of robustness and disturbance rejection are investigated. A stochastic optimization algorithm is used to effect trade-off between the free design parameters and to accomplish all the design criteria. A numerical example is given to illustra...
متن کاملRobust optimal multi-objective controller design for vehicle rollover prevention
Robust control design of vehicles addresses the effect of uncertainties on the vehicle’s performance. In present study, the robust optimal multi-objective controller design on a non-linear full vehicle dynamic model with 8-degrees of freedom having parameter with probabilistic uncertainty considering two simultaneous conflicting objective functions has been made to prevent the rollover. The obj...
